Steve James Pemberton (born 1 September 1967) rose to prominence as a member of The League of Gentlemen alongside fellow Mapp and Lucia cast member, Mark Gatiss. Since then he has gone on to co-create Psychoville and Inside No 9 with Reece Shearsmith as well as writing for and appearing in Benidorm and Whitechapel. Other high profile television appearances include roles in Doctor Who, Happy Valley, Whitechapel, The Old Curiosity Shop and Terry Pratchett’s Going Postal. Steve has also starred in a number of plays, including She Stoops to Conquer at the National Theatre, Spelling Bee at the Donmar Warehouse and Drowsy Chaperone in the West End.
Besides being part of the main cast, Steve Pemberton is also the scriptwriter of the miniseries.
